Cooling down on hot summer days

Who doesn’t enjoy a nice cool refreshment on a scorching summer’s day? When it comes to summer desserts, nothing beats an icy cold treat straight from the freezer. As we place high value on a balanced healthy diet, buying the ice cream from the local store is not an option. One of our key concepts are to teach the children about nutrition and making healthy food choices. Children’s early experiences of food play an important part in shaping later eating habits, which is vital for healthy growth and development. A fun way to promote this, is by preparing our own meals, snacks or treats. Therefore, together with their educators, the children from our facility in Haidhausen 1 spent the morning making their own ice pops. Healthy homemade ice pops are so much better than store-bought and they’re easy to make. All we had to do, was to cut the fruit into small pieces, put it in the blender, add some fresh juice and puree until completely smooth. Then, the children poured the mixture into ice pop molds, put the Popsicle sticks on top and froze for several hours. Understandably, their excitement to see the end results was almost unattainable.
